Sonmiani Wander:The cricket ground has become a cause of concern for players and enthusiasts alike due to negligence, which has affected the well-being of young people. The area surrounding the cricket ground on Miraan Pir Road has been turned into a dumping ground for empty alcohol bottles, used syringes, medications, and other waste. This severe pollution is proving detrimental to players and fans alike.
The cricket ground is often littered with broken glass from empty alcohol bottles and trash, posing risks to health and well-being. Concerns have arisen about underage drinking and substance abuse among young people due to the environment at the cricket ground.
Players and cricket enthusiasts expressed their worries about the impact of the cricket ground’s environment on the health and welfare of young people. They mentioned observing their children playing amidst syringes used for injecting drugs and broken glass from discarded alcohol bottles, which has instilled fear in them.
They demanded action from the Assistant Commissioner of Wander, SHO Wander Police Station, Chairman Municipal Committee Wander, Vice Chairman Municipal Committee Wander, Chief Officer Municipal Committee Wander, and Secretary Municipal Committee Wander. They urged for immediate action against those who engage in drinking alcohol at the cricket ground during nighttime and emphasized the need for thorough cleaning of the ground to ensure a safe environment for our youth and enthusiasts.
Efforts were also requested for the immediate disposal of used syringes and medications thrown on Miraan Pir Road to safeguard our children and young people from potential harm.
