Committee Formed to Amend Judges’ Code of Conduct Under Justice Munib Akhtar’s Leadership

Supreme Judicial Council Reviews 35 Individual Complaints Against Judges; 30 Dismissed

Islamabad: A committee has been formed under the leadership of Justice Munib Akhtar to amend the Judges’ Code of Conduct, according to a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). The meeting, chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, was attended by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Justice Amir Farooq, and Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court, Justice Hashim Kakar.
According to an official statement, the meeting discussed potential amendments to the Judges’ Code of Conduct, and the committee led by Justice Munib Akhtar will now provide recommendations for revisions.
The Supreme Judicial Council also reviewed 35 individual complaints against judges. Of these, 30 complaints were dismissed, while responses were sought for the remaining five complaints. The statement did not provide details on the nature of the complaints or the identities of the judges involved.
