Columbia University President Resigns After Threat of Federal Funding Cut by Trump

Washington: In response to a threat from U.S. President Donald Trump to cut federal funding, the President of Columbia University has resigned. Key figures from Harvard University’s Middle Eastern Studies Center have also decided to step down from their positions following the same threat.
The Trump administration had accused Columbia University of failing to prevent harassment of Jewish students and faculty members. The administration further stated that a $400 million reduction in federal funding for the university was being implemented as a consequence.
This move by the Trump administration has sparked significant controversy, leading to high-profile resignations within the academic community.
