CM Balochistan Seeks to Restore Peace through Tribal Jirgas
Quetta: The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has expressed his intention to restore peace in the province through tribal jirgas (councils). Speaking at a tribal jirga in the Pishin district, the CM emphasized that while security forces would be deployed where necessary, dialogue would be prioritized in areas requiring negotiations.
Governor Balochistan, during the peace jirga, stated that the primary goal of the event was to listen to the people’s concerns and provide swift solutions. Meanwhile, the Commander of the Balochistan Corps, Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to the defense of the nation.
The grand jirga was attended by notable figures, including the Governor of Balochistan, Jaafar Mandokhel, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Commander Balochistan Corps Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, IG FC (North) Abid Mazher, local tribal elders, senior civilian and military officials, women, and local residents.
During the event, participants engaged with tribal elders and women representatives to discuss the region’s challenges. Tribal leaders and advisors acknowledged the key role of law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and pledged their full support to work alongside all institutions for the region’s stability.
At the conclusion of the jirga, local leaders expressed their confidence in the collaboration between the government and Pakistan’s armed forces for the continued peace and prosperity of the area.
