CM Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti Announces Trade Deal with Iran and Activation of Border Markets
ISLAMABAD:Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced that trade agreements with Iran have been finalized, and border markets will soon be operational. Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, Bugti emphasized the government’s support for legal trade but strongly condemned the practice of smuggling, calling it unacceptable.
He stated, “The government is in favor of legal trade, but smuggling cannot be labeled as trade. Some individuals are attempting to call smuggling trade for their personal benefit, and we will not allow this.” He further added that the government is working to provide a better business environment for the trading community and will serve as the voice of traders.
Bugti assured that the provincial government is addressing the issues of traders and will engage in dialogue with the federal government to resolve any outstanding problems. He also highlighted the improving economic indicators in the country, noting that the stock exchange’s positive performance is benefiting the business community.
**Water Scarcity in Balochistan**
The Chief Minister also raised concerns about the water shortage in Balochistan, which has led to damage to crops. He stated that the issue would be raised with the federal government to seek solutions.
**Condemns PTI’s “Misconduct” in Islamabad**
On the political front, Sarfraz Bugti condemned the recent “misconduct” by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Islamabad, particularly in the wake of the tragic martyrdom of Rangers personnel. “While protest is everyone’s right, launching an attack on the federal government is not appropriate,” he said, expressing his sorrow over the loss of life during the recent violence.
Bugti’s comments come as tensions continue to rise between the federal government and opposition parties, with protests and rallies becoming a focal point of political discourse in the country. The Balochistan Chief Minister’s remarks reflect his efforts to balance local economic and political concerns with national stability.
