CM Balochistan Expresses Concerns Over PPL Contract, Decides to Raise Issue with Federal Government

Quetta:A meeting of the provincial cabinet, chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, expressed serious concerns over the status of the contract with Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL). The agreement with PPL, which expired approximately 15 years ago, has not been renewed, yet the company has earned over 100 billion rupees during this period. However, the provincial government has not received any share of these earnings.

In the meeting, it was decided that the provincial government would raise this issue with the federal government. Chief Minister Bugti stated that the matter would be pursued with federal authorities in a dignified yet strong manner. He emphasized that if no progress was made following today’s meeting, a special session of the provincial assembly and cabinet would be called to take further action on the issue.

The Chief Minister’s remarks highlight the growing frustration in the province over its lack of financial share from the natural resources extracted by PPL, which have greatly contributed to the company’s profits without benefiting the local communities or the provincial government.
