Chinese Company Yutong Decides to Establish Bus Manufacturing Plant in Karachi
Karachi: Yutong, the world’s largest bus manufacturer, has decided to set up a plant in Karachi for the production of intercity and electric buses, according to Express News. The decision was made following a meeting between senior Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani and officials from Yutong, including its CEO for the Middle East.
Senior Minister Saeed Ghani expressed great optimism, stating that Yutong’s decision is excellent news for the public. The company plans to commence construction of the plant within three months from July 2022 and expects it to be completed by the next year. The Karachi plant will produce both intercity and electric buses, including AV buses and hybrid diesel buses.
According to provincial ministers, the establishment of this plant will promote industries, create new employment opportunities, and contribute to Pakistan’s economy by saving on bus imports and benefiting from bus exports.
This initiative by Yutong is seen as a significant step towards enhancing Pakistan’s industrial capabilities and fostering economic growth in the region.
