China’s AI App DeepSeik Overtakes ChatGPT in the U.S. With Revolutionary Model

China’s artificial intelligence app DeepSeik has gained significant attention, surpassing ChatGPT in the U.S. as iPhone users now prefer it over OpenAI’s model. The newly launched DeepSeik R1, which costs 95% less than its American competitors, was developed for just $5.6 million and has proven to outperform ChatGPT, particularly in solving complex math problems.

One of the key reasons behind its success is DeepSeik’s ability to create efficient AI models at a fraction of the cost of its competitors. While the U.S. has imposed export bans on semiconductors to China, limiting access to high-performance chips like NVIDIA’s H100, DeepSeik has managed to utilize older NVIDIA A100 chips and lower-capacity H800 chips to train its models.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella highlighted DeepSeik’s achievements at the World Economic Forum in Davos, praising its development of a highly efficient, cost-effective, and open-source AI model. He stated, “It is incredibly impressive how they have created such a computationally efficient model, and advancements like DeepSeik should be taken very seriously.”

Microsoft’s Principal Researcher, Dimitris Papadopoulos, also praised DeepSeik for its simplicity and focus on core performance, which enabled significant cost reduction while maintaining effectiveness.

DeepSeik’s success marks a new milestone in AI development, with its affordable yet powerful model challenging the dominance of U.S.-based AI giants like OpenAI.
