China Declares Pakistan as “All-Weather Strategic Partner” and “Iron Friend

Islamabad:In a significant diplomatic development, China has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Pakistan, calling it an “all-weather strategic partner” and an “iron friend.” The announcement came during a meeting between Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, and Liu Jianchao, the Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), in Beijing today.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed his gratitude for China’s consistent support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests. He also highlighted the long-standing bilateral ties and strategic cooperation between the two countries, noting the deep-rooted relationship.
Liu Jianchao echoed Dar’s sentiments, reiterating that China will always prioritize Pakistan in its foreign policy. He further emphasized that China remains Pakistan’s steadfast partner, regardless of changing international circumstances.
Both leaders agreed to strengthen the relations between Pakistan’s political parties and the Chinese Communist Party, aiming to foster deeper ties and cooperation.
Ishaq Dar is on a three-day official visit to China, which was extended by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The visit, scheduled from May 19 to 21, will also see discussions with other senior Chinese leaders. The focus of these talks will include the evolving situation in South Asia, efforts for peace and stability, and broader regional and global developments.
Additionally, it is noteworthy that Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, is also scheduled to arrive in Beijing on May 20, signaling a busy diplomatic period for the region.
