Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti Chairs Key Meeting on Quetta’s Beautification, Cleanliness, and Development

QUETTA – A high-level meeting focused on the beautification, sanitation, and development of Quetta was chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti. Commissioner Quetta Hamza Shafqaat and CEO of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Authority Dr. Faisal Khan provided detailed briefings on key projects and initiatives.
The meeting was informed that Quetta’s first Mountain View IT Park has been completed under a public-private partnership model. The park hosts three software houses and has created employment for 100 youth. Notably, the project was completed without any government expenditure, resulting in savings of Rs. 1.5 billion.
Significant progress has also been made in waste management, with the city’s garbage collection capacity increasing from 300 to 1,000 tons per day. Furthermore, 3,200 previously closed schools across the province have been reactivated within a year.
Another milestone highlighted was the registration of the first maternal and child health case at the government hospital in Biker since the creation of Pakistan. In recognition of the provincial health minister’s performance, the newborn was named “Bakht Muhammad.”
To strengthen enforcement of municipal laws, Chief Minister Bugti approved the appointment of magistrates. He emphasized the need for a more efficient and transparent service delivery system and welcomed constructive criticism, stressing that encouraging good work is a collective responsibility.
He also vowed that the upcoming provincial budget would be transparent and that strict measures would be taken to prevent the misuse of public resources. Orders were issued to further enhance municipal services for Quetta’s development.
The Chief Minister directed the Finance and Local Government Departments to immediately release overdue funds to supporting institutions. He firmly instructed that no individual or official should accept any form of commission in public service projects. Citizens were advised to report any complaints directly to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
To ensure continued progress, CM Bugti announced that performance review meetings would be held every two months.
