Chief Minister of Balochistan Emphasizes Regulation of Internet Services to Curb Negative Influence

The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, stated that, given the unique circumstances of the province, regulating internet services has become an imperative. He highlighted that while the internet is an essential tool for education and training, certain anti-state elements are using social media to influence the youth negatively.
He emphasized the need to prevent efforts to mislead the youth through social media and to guide them in a positive direction.
The Chief Minister chaired a meeting with the IT Department and cellular operators, where key officials, including Chief Secretary of Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Secretary of Finance Imran Zarkon, Secretary of Agriculture Noor Ahmad Pirkani, Secretary of Livestock Department Abdul Fattah Bhangar, Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade Bilawal Khan Kakr, Director of PDMA Faisal Khan Panizai, Spokesperson of the Balochistan Government Shahid Rand, and representatives from PTA and other relevant agencies, were present.
The meeting discussed in detail the improvement of the IT and telecom sector in Balochistan. Secretary of the IT Department, Ayaz Khan Mandokhel, briefed the participants on the current state of affairs.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti also noted that utilizing the IT sector for improving governance is a crucial need at this time. He emphasized that it could not only provide facilities to the public but also improve transparency and efficiency in governmental affairs.
The Chief Minister directed that a comprehensive policy be developed for the betterment and regulation of internet services in Balochistan. This policy should ensure that the benefits of modern technology reach the public in a positive manner. Furthermore, the use of satellite real-time monitoring for enhancing peace and order, improving agriculture and livestock, providing early warnings for natural disasters, assessing damages, and collecting accurate data should also be considered.
At the meeting’s conclusion, the Chief Minister instructed PTA officials to prepare comprehensive proposals and present detailed recommendations at the next meeting to ensure effective steps for the development of the IT and telecom sectors in Balochistan.
