Quetta:Chief Minister Mir Sarrfraz Ahmed Bugti of Balochistan voiced his apprehensions regarding the state of governance and development initiatives in the province during a seminar on good governance organized under the auspices of the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) on Thursday. Bugti emphasized that Balochistan has historically seen coalition governments, often plagued by administrative challenges and lack of sustained development progress.
Bugti further underscored the critical issues facing the provincial administration, including issues of bureaucratic inefficiencies and financial mismanagement. He lamented that while billions have been allocated for development projects, their outcomes remain inadequate, with incomplete infrastructure projects littering the landscape.
During the seminar, Bugti pointed out the necessity for comprehensive governance reforms and accountability measures to address these challenges effectively. He stressed that both politicians and bureaucrats share responsibility for ensuring effective governance, which he described as pivotal to fostering socio-economic development in Balochistan.
Bugti also highlighted the need for increased transparency and public scrutiny over the allocation and utilization of development funds, especially amidst growing concerns over escalating non-development expenditures in the province.
The Chief Minister’s remarks come at a time when Balochistan is grappling with significant governance issues, compounded by security threats and environmental challenges. He urged all stakeholders to prioritize good governance practices and pledged to address the systemic issues hindering progress in the province.
Bugti concluded by calling upon the provincial administration to adopt a proactive approach in addressing the pressing issues faced by Balochistan, including enhancing public service delivery and ensuring equitable development across the province.
