Quetta:Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, highlighted ongoing challenges and development initiatives in an exclusive interview with a private television channel. He emphasized that the road connecting Bakhra and Dera Bugti in his village has yet to be constructed due to security concerns and hostilities in the area.
“The Kashmore-Sui Road project has been approved by the federal government, and the Bakhra Road construction, a project worth over 7 billion PKR, is progressing with 35% completion,” Bugti informed.
Bugti expressed his commitment to introduce mechanisms in Balochistan that would ensure the benefits of development reach every Balochistani. He pledged to bring Balochistan’s youth closer to the government and mentioned a substantial scholarship initiative for youth underprivileged in education across Balochistan.
He further highlighted, “We are offering scholarships to the top ten students from each high school in every district of Balochistan, including the first-ever scholarship to Swailin Shaheed’s minority family in Balochistan’s history.”
Bugti assured his dedication to the people of Balochistan, stating, “I am here for the service of Balochistan’s people as the Chief Minister. Whatever time I have, I will dedicate to the welfare of Balochistan.”
Discussing security and political matters, Bugti emphasized that the understanding of Balochistan’s issues cannot be comprehended from Islamabad alone. He clarified that as Chief Minister, he has not demanded any postings or development schemes, only suggestions have been received.
On the issue of corruption, Bugti stated, “There is corruption in Balochistan, and we have activated the anti-corruption department to tackle it effectively.”
Regarding law and order, he commented, “Protesting is everyone’s right in a democracy, and it’s the government’s responsibility to address it.”
Bugti addressed recent incidents, saying, “BLA has not engaged in any missing persons’ cases since 2002, such as Iqbal Marri, Abdul Wahid Bugti, and Mir Hazar Marri. It is the government’s responsibility to find and bring back missing persons.”
He concluded by welcoming support and cooperation from all segments of society and reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing Balochistan’s development and security.
