Charges Filed Against Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, and Others in Shadman Police Station Arson Case
Lahore: Anti-Terrorism Court Orders Witnesses to Appear
Lahore’s Anti-Terrorism Court has framed charges against prominent PTI leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, and others in connection with the arson attack on Shadman Police Station that occurred on May 9, following the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
The court held hearings for the case, which involves the torching and vandalism of the Shadman Police Station, a key incident during the violent protests after Khan’s arrest. Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Yasmin Rashid denied the charges. In response, the court ordered the prosecution to summon state witnesses to present their testimony.
Apart from Qureshi and Rashid, former Punjab ministers Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, and Senator Ejaz Chaudhry were also charged. The court has set December 19 for the prosecution to present its witnesses in court.
The case is one of several arising from the violent aftermath of Imran Khan’s arrest, with PTI leaders facing multiple charges related to the protests and damage to public property.
