Chaos in Lahore as Police Mistake Women Returning from Umrah for PTI Activists, Attempt Arrest

Lahore: Lahore police attempted to arrest women returning from Umrah, mistakenly identifying them as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists.
The incident occurred at Batay Chowk in Lahore, where a video went viral showing female police officers trying to detain the women. Despite the women showing their passports and return flight tickets from Saudi Arabia, the police initially refused to accept their documents. The women resisted the arrest, and after a brief argument, a senior police officer intervened, verified their passports, and allowed the women to go free.
In a separate incident, a plainclothes police officer in Faizabad was nearly detained but was able to clarify his identity by showing his police ID card, resolving the situation.

The incidents highlight the ongoing confusion and heavy-handed tactics being used in the ongoing crackdown on PTI members, with many reporting wrongful detentions based on suspicion.
