Ceasefire Restores Calm Amid Land Dispute Clashes in Kurram Tribal Region
PARACHINAR: Following intense clashes over a land dispute lasting six days, hostilities have ceased between factions in Kurram, with both sides now on high alert for any potential ceasefire violations. The skirmishes have resulted in more than 47 fatalities and over 175 injuries, as confirmed by local hospitals.
According to Deputy Commissioner Kurram, all factions have been mobilized and are prepared for any breaches of the ceasefire. Security forces have been deployed to clear the battlegrounds, with personnel stationed in strategic positions.
Last night, in the Mamo Khur area of Hangoo, an agitated mob blocked ambulances transporting the wounded, causing delays in medical evacuations to CMH hospitals.
Several critically injured individuals awaiting transfer to Peshawar for advanced treatment have been held up due to road closures resulting from the ongoing clashes.
Meanwhile, the Parachinar Tothal thoroughfare remains closed for the seventh consecutive day, severely impacting the supply of essential goods, medicines, and other commodities to the region.
To maintain peace and stability, officials including the Grand Jirga, GOC 9th Division Kohat, IG, and Commissioner Kohat are actively present in Parachinar.
These efforts are aimed at restoring normalcy and preventing further escalation of tensions in the area.
