California Court Orders Starbucks to Pay $50 Million in Damages to Delivery Worker

A court in California has ordered the famous coffee company, Starbucks, to pay $50 million in damages to a delivery worker, Michael Garcia, who was severely burned by a hot beverage while delivering Starbucks food packages.
According to media reports, the incident occurred on February 8, 2020, when Michael Garcia picked up an order from a Starbucks drive-thru in Los Angeles. Court documents revealed that Starbucks’ automatic coffee machine failed to properly seal the hot beverages in their containers, leading to the spill that caused the accident.
As a result of the incident, Michael Garcia suffered third-degree burns, severe nerve damage, and significant physical disfigurement. The court ruling requires Starbucks to compensate Garcia for his injuries.
