BYD Promotes Electric Vehicles as a Key Solution to Carbon Emission Reduction in Pakistan

Electric vehicle manufacturer BYD and Mega Motors have announced their commitment to promoting eco-friendly new energy vehicles in Pakistan, with a focus on reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality. According to the company, its electric vehicles have contributed to a reduction of 80 million tons of carbon emissions.

Speaking at the second day of the *Breath Pakistan* Global Climate Conference organized by Dawn Media in Islamabad, BYD’s Vice President of Sales and Strategy, Danish Khaliq, highlighted that the company’s electric vehicles have helped reduce carbon emissions by 80 million tons, equivalent to the carbon absorption of 1.3 billion trees.

Khaliq explained that the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) results in a 70 to 80 percent reduction in carbon emissions compared to conventional vehicles, and plug-in hybrid vehicles contribute to a 60 percent reduction in emissions.

Emphasizing environmental sustainability, he stressed that BYD is committed to bringing about significant and revolutionary changes in transportation, particularly in reducing the environmental impact. “The shift to new energy vehicles is no longer a distant goal but a pressing necessity to address today’s major environmental challenges,” Khaliq said.

He added that BYD’s vehicles not only reduce emissions but also offer a more efficient solution for urban transportation. The partnership with *Breath Pakistan* is seen as a natural step towards advancing green transportation and sustainable innovation as part of BYD’s global mission.

Having recently entered the Pakistani market, BYD is determined to apply its cutting-edge new energy vehicle (NEV) technology and sustainable innovations to drive Pakistan’s transition to eco-friendly transportation. The company is also committed to addressing environmental challenges and promoting a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.
