BYC Leaders Arrested Following Violent Protest and Deaths

Quetta:According to a statement issued by the office of the Commissioner of Quetta Division, on March 21, 2025, during a protest by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) in support of the deceased terrorists from the Jaffar Express incident, violent protesters pelted stones at the police and opened fire. Armed thugs accompanying BYC leaders fired shots, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. However, the BYC leadership took the bodies from the hospital and staged a sit-in protest to prevent a medical examination of the bodies.
The statement further mentioned that civil authorities and the police informed the BYC leaders that it was legally required for the bodies to undergo a medical examination under the prevailing laws. However, BYC’s armed leaders refused to comply. It was revealed that the shooting had been carried out by the armed thugs accompanying the BYC leaders, which led to the deaths of two laborers and one Afghan citizen. The BYC’s refusal to hand over the bodies was attributed to the fact that these individuals’ deaths could be linked to the firing by BYC’s armed thugs.
In an effort to conceal their crime, the BYC leadership initiated unnecessary protests. On March 22, the families of the three individuals who were killed by the BYC’s gunfire requested the district administration and police to retrieve the bodies from BYC and return them to the families for the last rites. Subsequently, the district administration and police took action. A case was registered against the BYC leaders for violating relevant laws, including the attack on the civil hospital, inciting violent protests among the public, and other important provisions. The accused leaders were arrested following the legal proceedings.
