Quetta:In a recent statement, the leadership of the Balochistan Traders Association, including President Rahim Agha, General Secretary Wali Afghan Tareen, and other key members, criticized the provincial government for its failure to address security and public issues. The association highlighted rampant lawlessness, chaos, and rampant theft across the province, with a particular focus on the capital, Quetta.
According to the traders, fuel shortages have persisted for the past three days, with petrol stations either closed or selling Iranian petrol at inflated prices of 300 to 350 rupees per liter. They also pointed out that Quetta’s infrastructure is in disrepair, with roads damaged and drains filled with garbage, while the provincial government remains unresponsive to these problems.
The traders have issued a three-day ultimatum to the provincial government, demanding the restoration of fuel supplies and the reopening of blocked roads. Failure to address these issues within the given timeframe will lead to a prolonged shutdown strike, the association warned.
The traders criticized the current government as the worst in Balochistan’s history, accusing the Chief Minister and all ministers of being ineffective and unfit to govern. They have called for the immediate resignation of the current administration.
A press conference will be held after three days to outline further actions and strategies. The business community is advised to prepare for a potential three-day shutdown if their demands are not met.
