“Bushra Bibi Released Under an Understanding, Promises Not Being Fulfilled: Muneeb Farooq”
Karachi: Senior journalist and analyst Muneeb Farooq has claimed that Bushra Bibi’s release was part of a prior understanding and that she was freed after certain promises were made. He suggested that the logic behind her release is similar to the situation surrounding Nawaz Sharif, where a political pathway was found for him.
Speaking on a private TV program “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Ke Sath,” Farooq noted that Bushra Bibi’s departure is raising concerns among powerful circles, especially as it seems she is not honoring her commitments. According to him, the possibility of negotiations for Imran Khan’s release is currently not on the table.
Farooq added that despite some speculation, there has been no authorization from the Prime Minister’s office for talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and even if protesters manage to reach D-Chowk, it is unlikely that they will succeed in securing Imran Khan’s release. He emphasized that while the logic suggests Imran Khan’s release should happen, much like the political settlement that allowed Nawaz Sharif’s return, there are no clear indications that such a move is being considered at this time.
