Bushra Ansari Expresses Concerns Over Her Role in ‘Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum’ and Discusses Industry Issues
Karachi:Veteran actress Bushra Ansari recently appeared on Ahmed Butt’s podcast, where she shared her thoughts on various topics, including her experience with the hit drama *Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum* and her views on the Pakistani entertainment industry.
Regarding her role in *Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum*, Bushra revealed that she was initially unhappy with how her character, the mother-in-law, was portrayed, particularly in the scenes where she scolds *Sharjeena* (played by Hania Aamir). According to Bushra, she felt the need for a logical explanation for why her character was reprimanding Sharjeena. “I needed a reason, a justification for why my character was scolding her,” she explained. Bushra also pointed out the troubling depiction of mothers and mother-in-laws in dramas, often portrayed as the antagonists. She mentioned that in her scene, where Hania Aamir’s character criticizes her for the way she raised her sons, the script could have explored this conflict further, but the content department did not align with her suggestions.
Bushra also spoke about the plot of *Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum*, where the character of Sharjeena (Hania Aamir) is forced into a marriage with a ‘second-rate’ son after the rejection by her first choice. Bushra questioned the fairness of the situation, asking, “What was the girl’s fault in this?”
When asked about the portrayal of mothers in the industry, Bushra expressed her frustration, noting that mothers, whether as *saas* (mother-in-law) or *maan* (mother), are often shown in a negative light in Pakistani dramas, a trend that she felt needed to change.
On a separate note, Bushra praised veteran actor **Firdous Jamal**, calling him one of the best talents in the Pakistani entertainment industry. She commended his body of work but also noted that his personal issues should have remained private, and the host of the show should not have posed certain personal questions to him.
Bushra also touched upon the controversy surrounding TV host **Ayesha Jahanzeb**, stating that in the past, Ayesha had shared other people’s personal secrets on her show, something Bushra believed was inappropriate.
During the podcast, Bushra also discussed the professionalism in the Pakistani entertainment industry, particularly in Lahore. She said that the film and TV industries in Lahore lacked a certain level of professionalism, and people there often had difficulty tolerating others. In contrast, she noted that Karachi’s entertainment industry is more professional and has played a significant role in shaping her career. “Had I stayed in Lahore, I wouldn’t have learned as much. Whatever I am today is because of Karachi’s industry,” Bushra said.
Her candid remarks shed light on her personal experiences in the industry, along with her insights into the challenges and nuances of the entertainment world.
