Quetta:Former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr. Malik Baloch, has strongly condemned the brutal police crackdown on protestors advocating for the recovery of missing individuals, including women and children, in Quetta (Daily Qudrat). Dr. Malik Baloch criticized the police for their excessive use of force, including tear gas shelling and arbitrary arrests, during a peaceful sit-in on Siryab Road that had been ongoing for the past ten days.
The protestors, mostly women and children, were peacefully demonstrating when police personnel resorted to violent measures, resulting in injuries to several women and children, and the arrest of some female protestors who were taken to various police stations. Dr. Malik Baloch emphasized that such actions are a blatant violation of human rights and have deeply hurt the sentiments of the people across Balochistan.
Expressing grave concern, Dr. Malik Baloch demanded the immediate release of all detained women, children, and protestors. He urged for serious negotiations to address the issue of missing persons and other political matters in Balochistan, emphasizing the need for building trust through dialogue. Dr. Malik Baloch underscored that the use of baton charges, tear gas shelling, and arbitrary arrests against the families of missing persons by police officers involved in misconduct should lead to strict legal action.
The incident has sparked outrage across Balochistan, with many condemning the police’s actions as intolerable and demanding justice for the affected families.
