BNP Mengal Protests Against Arrests of Baloch Unity Committee Leaders and Workers in Balochistan

In a strong show of protest, the Balochistan National Party Mengal (BNP Mengal) staged demonstrations across several districts in Balochistan against the recent arrests of Baloch Unity Committee leaders, including Organizer Maherang Baloch, and other activists. These protests marked the second phase of the party’s campaign, with participants gathering outside press clubs in Quetta, Kalat, Khuzdar, Nushki, and Dalbandin.

The protests were organized by BNP Mengal and Baloch Youth Committee (BYC) members, who raised slogans against the government while holding banners in support of the Baloch Unity Committee. Demonstrators in Khuzdar, Nushki, and Dalbandin also voiced their discontent outside the local press clubs, while in Quetta and Kalat, the protests took the form of rallies marching to the press clubs.

In Quetta, addressing the crowd, Acting President of BNP Mengal, Sajad Tareen, stated that the central committee of BNP had announced these protests in response to the unjust arrest of the Baloch Unity Committee workers. He added that the party would continue its protests with a long march from Wadh to Quetta on March 28, followed by a sit-in demonstration.

Tareen emphasized that BNP Mengal’s stance was clear — they do not support a double standard approach. He said the party stood with those who were truly indigenous to the land, and criticized those who supported military operations and later condemned them, calling it a hypocritical policy. Tareen further noted that the issue at hand was not just about one party but concerned every individual in Balochistan who was speaking out against oppression.

The protest in Quetta also saw support from leaders of the Awami National Party (ANP), who joined the rally and expressed solidarity with BNP Mengal’s cause.
