Blizzard Conditions in Balochistan Freeze SSGC Gas Regulators, Disrupting Supply

Quetta:A severe cold wave in *Balochistan* has caused a major disruption in gas supply, with the regulators on an 18-inch diameter gas pipeline installed by *Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC)* freezing due to temperatures dropping below freezing point.

According to an SSGC spokesperson, the gas regulators have become frozen and are no longer functioning properly, leading to interruptions in gas supply to several areas, including *Quetta*, *Kuchlak*, *Pishin*, *Bostan*, and *Ziarat*. The spokesperson further explained that SSGC’s technical teams have been working since 6 AM to address the issue, and efforts are underway to restore gas supply through an alternative pipeline.

The *Pakistan Meteorological Department* reported that the minimum temperature in *Quetta* reached a chilling -4°C, while temperatures in other regions of Balochistan were also significantly low. The department recorded temperatures of -6°C in *Qila Saifullah*, 4°C in *Nokundi*, 8°C in *Sibi*, and 10°C in *Gwadar*, *Turbat*, and *Giwani*.

The freezing temperatures have caused considerable hardship, and residents in the affected areas are facing gas shortages as the technicians work around the clock to resolve the issue.
