Karachi: Senior Minister of Sindh and Pakistan Peoples Party leader Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that under the initiative of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, 200,000 homes will receive free solar systems. Memon described this effort as a significant achievement.
In a recent press conference, he stated that the political landscape in the country has seen continuous activity, which is now reaching its conclusion. He highlighted the recent inauguration of six schemes by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in one day, including a major solar energy project in Ojha with a capacity of 2,330 megawatts.
Memon mentioned that efforts are underway to transition hospitals and schools to solar energy, and the Sindh government plans to construct 2.1 million homes. With the provision of solar systems to 200,000 families, these households will no longer have to pay electricity bills.
He emphasized the importance of highlighting ground-level achievements, including the distribution of farmer cards by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, following the previous government’s issuance of labor cards.
Memon also provided updates on the rapid progress of the Red Line bus project in Karachi, mentioning that the Sindh government has made advancements across various sectors. He noted the introduction of electric buses and plans for electric taxis, with separate services for men and women.
He revealed that registration for vehicles will now be available online, improving efficiency across government departments, including police capacity building and funding for the Safe City project.
Addressing constitutional amendments, Memon stated that all parties were consulted, and the Pakistan Peoples Party has always respected the judiciary. He condemned the non-parliamentary behavior of the PTI and defended the party’s support for judicial independence, even amidst challenges.
Memon criticized the PTI leadership, likening their actions to digital terrorism and accusing them of promoting internal discord. He urged the public not to be misled by the PTI’s narrative and emphasized the importance of unity among all citizens, regardless of political affiliations.
