Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Criticizes Judiciary for Favoring PTI and Creating Political Controversy
Islamabad: In a recent address to the National Assembly, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), criticized the judiciary for allegedly favoring the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. Bhutto Zardari accused the judiciary of providing PTI with electoral seats as if they were “candies” and claimed that the judiciary’s actions were unjust and politically motivated.
Bhutto Zardari asserted that while the judiciary had previously failed to provide a fair trial for his grandfather, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, it was now creating unnecessary controversies. He contended that the judiciary’s decisions had given undue political advantages to PTI.
The PPP Chairman expressed frustration with what he described as the judiciary’s overreach, asserting that not only does it dispense justice, but it also engages in activities like dam construction and price regulation. He praised the judiciary’s ability to handle various issues but criticized its influence on political matters.
Bhutto Zardari drew comparisons with the judiciary in Bangladesh, noting that while political issues there were addressed with specific actions, the situation in Pakistan was marked by increasing political polarization and institutional conflicts.
During Bhutto Zardari’s speech, opposition members staged a protest. Opposition Leader Omar Ayub remarked on the presence of a Saudi delegation and implied that Bhutto Zardari’s political comments were inappropriate given the context.
Overall, Bhutto Zardari’s remarks highlight ongoing tensions between political and judicial institutions in Pakistan.
