Big Decision by Shahbaz Government: Announcement of New Foreign Assignments
Islamabad: The Shahbaz government has decided to make large-scale appointments of trade officers abroad. According to sources, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved this initiative, under which officers in grades 18 to 21 will be appointed to positions vacated next year.
New trade officers will be appointed to key global cities, including Los Angeles, Beijing, Paris, and others. In addition, assignments have been decided for Istanbul, Brussels, Dhaka, and Dushanbe. Doha and Frankfurt will also be included in the list of new postings.
Furthermore, the government has allocated a 10% quota for the private sector and overseas Pakistanis. Candidates will be required to undergo a written exam and an interview process. These officers will be appointed for a three-year term.
A special board has been formed to oversee the interviews, chaired by the Minister of Commerce. The board will also include the Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and Secretary of the Establishment Division. Additionally, the Minister of Commerce will have the authority to include an expert from the private sector in the board.
The interview board will have the power to award up to 40 points based on the candidates’ performance. After completing the interviews, the final recommendations will be sent to the Prime Minister for approval.
This decision is considered an important step in strengthening Pakistan’s international trade relations.
