Biden to Support Major Reforms for the Supreme Court, Reports Washington Post

Islamabad:President Joe Biden of the United States is set to announce his support for significant reforms to the Supreme Court, according to a report by The Washington Post. The proposed amendments, expected to be presented next week, include term limits for justices and adherence to a strict code of ethics.

President Biden is also deliberating on whether to demand constitutional amendments to abolish broad presidential exceptions, highlighting his thorough consideration of this matter.

During a phone call with progressive Congresswoman Cox, Biden stated that there will be some form of reforms at the Supreme Court, promising further details soon while refraining from premature announcements on the amendments.

Consultations with legal experts have been concluded by the American President; however, he avoided announcing any reforms prematurely, having previously shunned demands to expand bench seats or implement term limits on the Supreme Court.

After the appointment of three conservative judges by former President Donald Trump, some Democrats have demanded changes. Any such reforms will require the support of Congress.

Donald Trump, who officially accepted the Republican presidential nomination for the 2020 election on November 5, will face Biden in the rematch.

In October, a bipartisan group of legal experts expressed support for an 18-year term limit for Supreme Court justices to prevent biases and enhance judicial integrity.
