Barrister Gohar: Faiz Hameed’s Court Martial is an Internal Military Matter, Not a Political Issue
Islamabad: Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar, stated that the court martial of General (R) Faiz Hameed is an internal military matter and should not be politicized. In an exclusive interview with Express News, Gohar emphasized that the issue is related to the military’s internal accountability and has no connection with PTI.
He further added that PTI Chairman Imran Khan has formed a committee for negotiations, expressing hope that the political situation would be resolved through continued dialogue. “We believe it is essential to find a permanent political solution to all the issues, and we hope that progress will be made in this regard,” Gohar stated.
When asked about PTI’s distancing from General (R) Faiz, Barrister Gohar clarified that Faiz Hameed had held a significant position, and PTI had a professional relationship with him. However, as a military officer, Faiz is subject to the Army Act, and the consequences of his actions, including potential punishment, are beyond PTI’s jurisdiction. “This matter is about the army’s internal accountability, and it should not be politicized,” he added.
