Balochistan’s Climate Ideal for Saffron Farming, Say Agricultural Experts

Quetta:In a positive development for Balochistan’s farmers, experts have confirmed that the province’s climate is well-suited for saffron cultivation. During an awareness seminar on saffron farming, organized by the Agricultural Research Institute in Quetta, agricultural specialists highlighted the potential for successful saffron production in the region.

According to the experts, saffron can be grown on just one acre of land, yielding up to one kilogram of saffron. They noted that Balochistan’s soil and weather conditions are perfect for saffron cultivation, with the ability to grow the spice with minimal water and without the need for fertilizers.

The seminar emphasized that saffron farming in the province has already proven to be a success, and demand for the spice is steadily increasing. However, experts advised that local farmers would need training in the cultivation, harvesting, and marketing of saffron to fully capitalize on this lucrative crop.

Several countries around the world have already commercialized saffron farming, and experts believe that Balochistan’s farmers should be similarly trained to benefit from this profitable agricultural venture.
