Quetta:The spokesperson for the Balochistan Vice Chief Justice expressed deep concern in a recent press release regarding the ongoing incidents at the Gwadar rally. The release detailed attacks by forces including firing, tear gas shelling, baton charges, arrests, and injuries to multiple participants. The state’s transformation of peaceful rallies into violent demonstrations over the past three days is being viewed as the worst state repression in recent times.
The spokesperson emphasized that attempts to suppress and silence the Baloch nation through state coercion and power will not succeed. These actions only open the path to further violence and make it exceedingly difficult for the state to manage the situation. Immediate acceptance of the demands of the Baloch Unity Committee was urged, along with opening all routes and allowing convoys to enter Gwadar from various regions.
The convoys include women, children, and elderly individuals, raising concerns about the risk of loss of human lives due to severe heat, lack of water, and food shortages. Following the Quetta Red Zone sit-in, all forcibly disappeared individuals and political workers detained and disappeared during preparations for the sit-in should be recovered.
The spokesperson called for action against officials involved in firing and violence against convoys and urged the closure of all FIRs filed during this period. International media and human rights organizations, especially the United Nations, were urged to take note of the coercion in Gwadar and prevent large-scale loss of human lives. Immediate deployment of representatives to monitor the critical situation in Gwadar was requested.
The Baloch nation was appealed to act according to the protest schedule of the Baloch Unity Committee and participate fully in protests in Gwadar and wherever else they are occurring.
