Quetta:Amnesty International has issued a plea to Pakistani authorities to lift the internet shutdown imposed in Gwadar amidst escalating tensions in Balochistan. The call comes following reports of security forces firing on peaceful demonstrators during a Baloch National Assembly gathering in Mastung, resulting in injuries to 14 individuals, with some in critical condition.
The human rights organization condemned the use of force as unlawful and unnecessary, highlighting concerns over restrictions hindering the free flow of information. Amnesty International stressed the urgent need for Pakistan to uphold national and international laws, ensuring the right to peaceful protest and restoring internet access to facilitate freedom of movement and communication.
