Balochistan University Employees Association Demands Salary Payment and Immediate Action on Financial Crisis

Quetta:The President of Balochistan University Employees Association, Shah Ali Bugti, along with General Secretary Gul Jan Kakr and other cabinet members, issued a statement expressing serious concerns over the continued non-payment of salaries to university staff. They called the delay in salary payments an “absurd and unacceptable” act, stressing that employees are entitled to their salaries as compensation for their work, not as a favor.
The association leaders further demanded that instead of the Balochistan government allowing billions of rupees to lapse every year, these funds should be allocated to resolve the financial crisis at Balochistan University and other universities. They also condemned the failure to pay the increased 25% ad-hoc relief allowance, which had been approved in the recent budget but has not been paid for the past seven months, describing it as a violation of the employees’ rights.
The association warned that the Balochistan University administration and the provincial government should not misinterpret the silence of employees as weakness. They firmly stated that the Employees Association would not tolerate such unjust decisions and would adopt a strong strategy to fight for their rights. The association reiterated its commitment to continue advocating for the rights of university employees at every forum.
The statement also highlighted growing dissatisfaction and unrest among employees due to provincial and central government inefficiency and harsh decisions. In response, the Balochistan University Employees Association announced plans to hold a meeting of employee representatives from all universities in Balochistan to form the All Balochistan Universities Employees Federation. This federation will work together on a platform to address common issues and find solutions to the problems faced by university staff.
The association urged the provincial government to act with seriousness and find a permanent solution for the payment of salaries to university employees, along with the immediate establishment of a provincial Higher Education Commission (HEC).
