Balochistan Police Accused of Collusion with Armed Groups Extorting Citizens in Panjgur

Quetta:In a startling revelation, the spokesperson for the BNP Awami unit in Panjgur, Begg Ward, has alleged that armed militias, under the guise of CPEC security, are extorting locals from Bonsitan to Saradak. He specifically named Saeed Damad, brother of MPA Rahmat Saleh, for setting up illegal checkpoints and engaging in forced extortion. Ward claimed that police are powerless and complicit in these activities, failing to protect citizens or address their grievances impartially. Recent incidents, including a shooting involving a passenger vehicle, have heightened concerns over police bias, prompting affected individuals to seek legal recourse rather than rely on police intervention. Ward accused the police of surrendering to armed groups linked to Saleh and his company, facilitating unchecked robberies and extortion under the guise of security measures. He called on the conscientious public of Panjgur to protest against police incompetence and partiality, warning of potential escalation if such abuses continue unchecked.
