Quetta:In a strongly worded statement, the Balochistan National Party has voiced its opposition against the recent measures to impose restrictions on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The central statement by the party criticized the imposition of such restrictions on a political entity, deeming it unacceptable and reminiscent of past military dictatorships.
The statement highlighted historical instances where similar actions led to undermining the mandate of political parties, citing the restrictions imposed on the National Awami Party and the refusal to recognize the mandate of the Awami League, which resulted in national disintegration.
“Banning PTI goes against democratic norms and traditions,” the statement asserted, pointing out that past alliances of the current government had also made similar mistakes, such as imposing restrictions on the National Awami Party and disregarding the mandate of the Awami League, which led to national disintegration. “It is repeating the same mistake today,” the statement said. If restrictions are to be imposed, they should be imposed on all political parties, and a military democratic party should be formed according to their wishes and opinions.
