Balochistan National Party Expresses Concern Over Ongoing Military Operations
Quetta:Former federal minister and **Balochistan National Party (BNP)**’s central information secretary, **Agha Hassan Baloch**, has expressed serious concerns over the continuing military operations in Balochistan. In a statement, he highlighted that **the fifth military operation in Balochistan** has been ongoing for over two decades. He pointed out that the destructive consequences of past operations, particularly those during **General Pervez Musharraf’s era** and even earlier, continue to affect the people of Balochistan, who are still suffering from **economic hardships, social issues, and mental anguish** as a result.
Agha Hassan Baloch emphasized that despite these **bitter historical experiences**, the government continues to rely on force, taking the situation to a point of **”no return”**. He warned that **unjust use of power** only exacerbates social crises and fuels further unrest, yet the ruling elite remain entrenched in the same flawed approach.
The BNP leader reiterated the party’s longstanding stance, as articulated by **Sardar Akhtar Mengal**, that **violence, oppression, and human rights abuses** cannot resolve the issues in Balochistan. He called for an immediate halt to **Baloch genocide**, forced disappearances, and ongoing human rights violations. The party has consistently argued that the only way forward is through **dialogue, reconciliation, and negotiation**, rather than through continued military operations.
Agha Hassan Baloch further stressed that **military operations** were not the solution to Balochistan’s problems, and called on the **government and establishment** to review the situation carefully before the region slips further into chaos. He stated that the rulers, particularly those in the **current government**, are unable to resolve the issues in Balochistan, as evidenced by their failure to address **core grievances**.
In the statement, BNP also demanded the **immediate release** of **Ali Muhammad Jatak**, the 5-year-old son of **Mir Akram Jatak**, and **Innocent Khan Kakr**, both of whom are reportedly missing. The party reiterated that the **entire province** is in a state of **protest**, but the authorities remain indifferent and continue to make **empty statements**.
The BNP has called for an end to military operations and a shift towards peaceful solutions through **constructive negotiations**. The party further demanded that the **issues of forced disappearances** and **human rights abuses** be addressed promptly to restore peace and stability in the region.
