Balochistan National Party Congratulates New Leadership of Balochi Academy, Urges Increase in Funding
Quetta:In a recent statement, Balochistan National Party (BNP) members, including Central Executive Committee member and District President Ghulam Nabi Mari and District Information Secretary Naseem Javed Hazara, extended their congratulations to the newly elected leadership of the Balochi Academy. The new officials include Chairman Haibat Khan Omar, Vice Chairman Mohammad Siddique Baloch, General Secretary Irfan Jamaldini, Finance Secretary Mohammad Sadiq, and Publication Secretary Zakar Qadir, along with cabinet members Sangat Rafiq, Mumtaz Yousuf, Bizen Saba, Advocate Chingiz Isa, and Shakeel Baloch.
The BNP leaders expressed their hope that under the new leadership, the Balochi Academy will significantly contribute to the promotion of Balochi language and literature. They highlighted the pivotal role played by BNP leader and former Chief Minister Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal in acquiring land and constructing the academy building. They also acknowledged the BNP’s contributions to the Brahui, Pashto, and Hazargi academies.
The BNP emphasized the critical role of literary and cultural academies in preserving and advancing the identity and development of nations. They argued that promoting and developing mother tongues is essential for safeguarding historical identities and paving the way for intellectual progress. They pointed out that the Balochi and Brahui languages have a rich history that has preserved the identity of the Baloch nation.
The party also voiced concern over recent budget cuts to the Balochi Academy and urged the provincial government to reverse these cuts. They called for an increase in funding for all literary academies in Balochistan and for the introduction of Balochi language subjects and teachers in schools across the province.
