Balochistan National Party Condemns Political Revenge in Imran Khan’s Conviction

Quetta:The Balochistan National Party (BNP) issued a central statement strongly condemning the conviction of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, calling it nothing more than a political vendetta. The party criticized the legal proceedings in the case, alleging that the principles of law, merit, and justice were blatantly disregarded, deeming the decision unjust and improper.
The statement also accused the current rulers of using judicial institutions for their own political gains. The BNP remarked that the ruling government has reduced the country to a puppet regime, with a de facto dictatorship in place. The party emphasized that those who once claimed to be champions of democracy are now actively undermining democracy, the rule of law, and the constitution.
The statement further pointed out that, under Article 10-A of the Constitution, every citizen is entitled to a fair trial. However, since the current government took power, there has been a systematic violation of constitutional and legal norms, particularly against political leaders, which the BNP views as an infringement on human rights.
The statement also referred to the false cases filed against BNP leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal and other central leaders of the party, asserting that the purpose behind such actions is to target those who advocate for the supremacy of the constitution, law, and parliament. The party condemned the ongoing abductions of Baloch youth, widespread human rights violations, and the excessive use of force, particularly in Balochistan.
Since the era of former President Pervez Musharraf, the BNP has maintained a principled stance against the forced disappearances and the brutal handling of mutilated bodies in Balochistan, which it views as severe violations of human rights. The party reiterated its commitment to this position, despite the sacrifice of 95 of its members, including its central leaders, who have been martyred for their stand.
The BNP concluded the statement by calling for an immediate end to the human rights violations in Balochistan and a halt to the ongoing political victimization under the PTI and the current ruling coalition.
