Balochistan Launches Pink Scooty Scheme to Empower Women: CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti
Quetta: The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has launched a groundbreaking Pink Scooty Scheme aimed at empowering women in the province. Under this scheme, talented female students, position holders, teachers, and working women will receive scooters to help them pursue their education and careers more efficiently. Speaking at a prestigious ceremony at Government Girls Post Graduate Degree College Quetta on Friday, where 50 female students received their pink scooters, Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced that the scheme will soon be expanded across the entire province.
“This is the first time in the history of Balochistan that such a scheme has been introduced for female students,” the Chief Minister said. He emphasized that no student will be left out and that the scheme is designed to support the development and empowerment of women. “We want to see our women educated and playing an active role in improving society,” he added.
The scheme will also offer monthly installment options to make it accessible to a larger number of women, and the policy is being developed to extend the program to the entire province.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of empowering women in Balochistan, pointing out that five women have been appointed as Deputy Commissioners in the province, performing exceptionally well. “The development of women in every sector is a priority, and we are committed to providing equal opportunities for their growth,” he said.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti also addressed the issue of rising extremism and terrorism in the region, encouraging young people to resist manipulation through social media and artificial intelligence. “Pakistan is facing organized conspiracies and efforts to destabilize the country. We must stand united and reject false propaganda,” he said. The CM urged students and young people to confront corruption and terrorism, which continue to target educational institutions in Balochistan. “With the help of our youth, we will defeat terrorism and ensure that our schools and colleges remain open and thriving,” he added.
The Chief Minister also reaffirmed his commitment to merit-based employment in the province, stressing that no government job will be sold. He cited the example of a sweeper’s daughter from Pishin, who was recently appointed to a government position based purely on merit. “We will continue to provide opportunities for the youth of Balochistan, who are highly talented but often lack the necessary platforms to showcase their abilities,” he said.
At the event, the Chief Minister announced the immediate completion of the Professor Nazima Talib Education Block at the college, along with plans to introduce an AstroTurf field for sports activities. Provincial Minister for Education, Raheela Hamid Khan Durani, expressed her gratitude for the Chief Minister’s support, noting that his promises are now being translated into action, benefiting both education and women’s rights in the province.
The ceremony concluded with a lucky draw, where 50 students were selected to receive pink scooters, with 48 of them receiving their scooters on the spot. The remaining two students will receive their scooters in the coming week.
Other officials present at the event included Provincial Ministers Raheela Hamid Khan Durani, Mir Mohammad Sadiq Umrani, Mir Saleem Khan Khosah, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, and Principal of Government Girls Post Graduate Degree College Quetta, Professor Sadia Farooqi.
