Balochistan High Court Bar Association Condemns Police Violence Against Peaceful Protesters
Quetta:The Balochistan High Court Bar Association has strongly condemned the police brutality against peaceful protesters, including women and children, during recent demonstrations by the Kasi tribe and the sit-in in Hub demanding the recovery of Zubair Baloch.
In a joint statement issued by the President of the Association, Mir Ataullah Langoo Advocate, Senior Vice President Jamil Bostan Advocate, Vice Presidents Ismatullah Achakzai Advocate, Waja Akram Baloch, and Musa Jan Kakr Advocate from the Zhob Zone, along with other office bearers, the police’s actions were termed as “highly unacceptable.”
The statement emphasized that the provincial government must ensure the safety and security of the public and recognize peaceful protests as a democratic right. It further condemned the police’s use of force and arbitrary arrests against peaceful rallies, noting that such actions are in direct violation of Balochistan’s customs, culture, and traditions.
The Bar Association pointed out that the issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan has reached a critical level, and such incidents are contributing to a growing sense of insecurity among the people.
The statement called on the government to conduct an impartial investigation into the violence against women and children in Hub and the attacks on the Kasi tribe’s rally. It also demanded that the officials responsible for the crackdown be held accountable, and that all detainees be released immediately.
