Quetta:The Balochistan Flour Mills Association has announced the cessation of flour mills operations across Balochistan in protest against unauthorized taxes imposed by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), including levies on wheat milling and supply. Naseer Agha, Chairman of the Balochistan Flour Mills Association, declared the shutdown of flour mills throughout the province, stating, “We have closed flour mills across Balochistan, including wheat milling and supply, in protest against illegal taxes imposed by the FBR.” He emphasized growing resistance against additional taxes imposed through the federal budget. “We strongly oppose the introduction of withholding taxes as it will further increase wheat prices. We demand the withdrawal of these unjust taxes,” he added. Despite an abundance of wheat in the country, Agha criticized Punjab’s imposition of restrictions on wheat transportation for export purposes.
