Balochistan CM Sarfaraz Bugti Emphasizes Unity, Urges Swift Completion of Kachhi Canal Project
Quetta/Tunsa:Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti**, has expressed concern over efforts to weaken the country on **linguistic grounds** and stressed the need for **national unity**. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the **Kachhi Canal project**, CM Bugti emphasized that **terrorism has no ethnicity or tribe**, and the ongoing violence, particularly targeting **innocent Punjabis**, was the work of **terrorists**. He also highlighted that **Balochistan** had lagged behind other provinces, but the current government was working hard to bridge that gap and bring development to the region.
In his address, **CM Bugti** said that **Balochistan** had been left behind in terms of development, and the provincial government was committed to improving the situation. He underscored that the **Kachhi Canal**, which had been under development since **2002**, was a critical project that could irrigate **7 to 8 lakh acres** of land and bring prosperity to the province. He urged for the **next phase** of the project to be completed **at a fast pace**, with a focus on **Shahbaz Speed**, a reference to the quick and efficient work done during the tenure of former Chief Minister **Shahbaz Sharif**.
### **National Unity and Terrorism**
Referring to the growing **ethnic tensions** in the country, the Chief Minister stated that there were attempts to **weaken Pakistan** through such divisions. He stressed that **Punjab** had always been welcoming, providing opportunities for people from all regions, including **Balochistan**, to settle, work, and pursue education. He expressed his gratitude to the people and government of **Punjab** for their support.
**CM Bugti** condemned the recent killings of **innocent Pakistanis**, particularly **Punjabis**, by **terrorists** and reiterated that these actions were not carried out by the **Baloch people** but by **terrorist elements** who had no allegiance to any specific tribe or region. He affirmed that Pakistan was progressing toward becoming a stronger, unified nation, and **Balochistan**, under the leadership of **Prime Minister Imran Khan**, would also make significant strides in development.
### **Kachhi Canal Project and Future Development**
The **Kachhi Canal** is a long-standing project that aims to bring **irrigation** to the vast barren lands of **Balochistan**. CM Bugti pointed out that while the project had been under development since **2002**, it had still not been completed. He recommended that the next **100 km** of the canal should not be lined, as the provincial government lacked the resources for repeated repairs. He urged the **Prime Minister** to prioritize the completion of this vital project and complete the **next phase** within **two to three months**.
**CM Bugti** highlighted the importance of the **Kachhi Canal**, noting that **7 to 8 lakh acres** of land would be irrigated once completed, benefiting the local communities. He further pointed out that the land currently lacked even basic resources, such as **drinking water for birds**, and emphasized that the project’s successful completion would significantly improve the region’s agricultural capacity, ultimately benefiting the entire society.
In closing, CM Bugti reaffirmed his commitment to the **development of Balochistan** and the creation of a **prosperous, united Pakistan**, urging all Pakistanis to stand together against terrorism and work towards the country’s greater good.
