Balochistan CM Pays Tribute to Martyrs, Vows to Uphold Peace and Justice
Quetta:In a solemn ceremony marking Police Martyrs’ Day, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that the fight against terrorism is a state battle and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to avenging its martyrs. Speaking at the Central Police Office Quetta, the Chief Minister honored the sacrifices of police martyrs, expressing pride in their contributions to maintaining peace and security in the region. He vowed that the government would not forget their sacrifices and would continue to defend every inch of their homeland with courage and determination.
The Chief Minister condemned past instances of terrorism in Balochistan, including sectarian and linguistic violence aimed at weakening the province. He asserted that achieving Balochistan’s rights could only be accomplished through robust parliamentary efforts, emphasizing that armed resistance would be countered firmly, and no one would be allowed to pursue anti-state agendas.
Bugti criticized the misuse of peaceful protests, claiming they often contradict Baloch traditions and are manipulated through social media to misrepresent the scale of participation. He clarified that his government is open to negotiations and accused adversaries of attempting to create discord for their gain. He stressed that good governance and effective administration are crucial for addressing feelings of deprivation.
Earlier, Chief Minister Bugti visited the Police Martyrs’ Memorial at the Central Police Office, laid floral tributes, and prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ souls. IG Police Balochistan Abdul Khaliq Sheikh also paid tribute to the brave martyrs, describing them as invaluable assets and role models for the entire force.
IG Sheikh highlighted ongoing initiatives, including scholarships for martyrs’ children to attend cadet colleges and a proposal to increase compensation for martyrs’ families threefold, which the provincial government has endorsed.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Assembly Ghazala Gola, Provincial Ministers Bakht Muhammad Kakr, Raheela Hamid Durrani, Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Zahid Saleem, IG Police Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, IG FC North, and other senior officials.
