Balochistan CM Calls for Strict Action Against Illegal Wildlife Hunting

Quetta:Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sardar Fazal Ahmed Baloch, has expressed concern over reports of rare wildlife being mercilessly killed in certain areas. He emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in illegal hunting.
Speaking at a review meeting of the Forest Department on Monday regarding the protection and stability of the province’s forests and wildlife, the Chief Minister was joined by Provincial Minister Mir Mohammad Sadiq Umarani, Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Additional Chief Secretary for Development and Planning Hafeez Abdul Basit, Secretary of Forests Noor Ahmad Pirkani, and other relevant officials.
During the meeting, officials briefed the Chief Minister on ongoing efforts to protect forests and wildlife. The Chief Minister urged that these measures be made more effective and warned that indiscriminate illegal hunting is putting some rare species at risk of extinction. He proposed the formation of a community monitoring committee, comprising local tribal elders and communities, to help address this issue.
Mir Sardar Fazal also stated that he would engage with the Federal Ministry of Climate Change to discuss securing international funding for the restoration of protected areas.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Forest Department, Noor Ahmad Pirkani, informed the meeting that three individuals involved in illegal hunting in Takhtu had been arrested. All three suspects are government employees, and legal proceedings are underway.
