Balochistan Chief Minister Urges Implementation of Youth Policy to Counter Extremism and Promote Development
Quetta:In a recent address at the fifth cabinet meeting, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the use of social media to sow seeds of hatred among the youth as part of a deliberate conspiracy to alienate them from the state. He emphasized that the state must embrace its youth and address their feelings of deprivation.
Chief Minister Bugti stressed the urgent need for the effective implementation of the Balochistan Youth Policy 2024 to guide young people in the right direction and provide them with opportunities for advancement and development. He stated that addressing the grievances of the youth and integrating them into mainstream society is crucial for maintaining peace and stability.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also issued orders for the prompt repayment of private bank loans owed by the Department of Food. He criticized the practice of paying daily and monthly interest, describing it as unjust and unsustainable. Bugti called for an end to such practices, stating that the public’s money should not be used to pay excessive interest.
To improve law and order, Chief Minister Bugti announced plans to enhance the professional capacity of the police and levies. He emphasized that both forces share a fundamental responsibility for maintaining peace and should focus on effective coordination to achieve this goal.
In addition, Bugti highlighted the need for autonomous authorities to become self-reliant and increase their own resources instead of depending on government funds. He warned that if non-developmental expenditures continue to rise, the government might lack resources for essential services like education, health, and clean water in the next decade.
Before concluding the cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister invited Israrullah Khan Kakar, President of the Balochistan Students’ Union at Oxford University, as an honorary guest. The cabinet congratulated Kakar on his election as President and praised his achievements. Chief Minister Bugti recognized Kakar’s hard work and talent, noting that he is only the second Pakistani to hold such a position after Benazir Bhutto. The Chief Minister assured that the Balochistan government will continue to support and encourage talented youth like Kakar.
In response, Israrullah Khan thanked Chief Minister Bugti and the cabinet members for their support and acknowledged the provincial government’s efforts in promoting education. He encouraged Balochistan’s students and youth to pursue their goals with dedication and hard work.
