Quetta:The Baloch Unity Committee has issued a statement in response to a notice from the Director General of the Balochistan Charities Registration and Regulation Authority, which claimed that the committee is an illegal organization accused of collecting unlawful funds from the public. The committee highlighted ongoing human rights violations and genocide in Balochistan, asserting that the administration is criminalizing fundraising efforts for the Baloch Raj Metchi, a peaceful resistance movement.
The statement criticized state institutions for taking extreme measures against the peaceful Baloch resistance, noting that while they trample on the fundamental rights of the Baloch people, they simultaneously attempt to suppress their peaceful voices. The committee expressed concern that there is no space left for political activists and peaceful movements in Balochistan.
The committee further pointed out that in the past, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) labeled the Baloch Youth Committee (BYC) as a mafia, and the government has branded the BYC as facilitators of terrorists. The Charities Authority has declared BYC an illegal NGO for collecting funds, while the Ministry of Interior has placed its members on the Fourth Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act. They described these actions as part of a systematic policy to curb peaceful civic, political, and human rights activities in Balochistan.
The Baloch Unity Committee, a national and human rights organization representing the Baloch people, emphasized that its activities are non-violent and in accordance with international democratic principles and human rights laws. They stated that the Baloch nation, alongside other oppressed communities and global human rights organizations, recognizes the committee as a legitimate platform.
Despite the ongoing propaganda against them, the Baloch Unity Committee vowed to continue serving the Baloch people and to resist Baloch genocide at all costs.
