Baloch Students Protest Against Closure of Balochistan University Hostels
Turbat:Chairman of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO), Balach Qadir, has strongly condemned the closure of hostels at the University of Balochistan (UoB) following a similar move at the Balochistan Medical College (BMC). In a statement, Balach Qadir revealed that the Provincial Home Department issued a notification to the university, directing the complete closure of the hostels.
He criticized the university administration, particularly the Vice Chancellor, for neglecting their responsibilities and allowing the institution to become a hostage to the government’s policies. “The government of Balochistan’s plan to turn educational institutions into military cantonments is a malicious conspiracy, and we will resist it politically,” he asserted.
Balach Qadir emphasized that both Baloch and Pashtun students would launch full-scale political resistance against such moves. He also warned that all student organizations in Balochistan would protest against the occupation of educational institutions by the authorities.
The closure of hostels at UoB has raised serious concerns among students, who view it as an attempt to curtail academic freedom and independence. The decision is seen as part of a broader trend of militarizing educational spaces, which has sparked outrage across various student organizations in the region.
In response to the ongoing developments, the BSO and other student bodies have vowed to intensify their protests and stand united against any further encroachments on educational institutions in Balochistan.
