Baloch Students Front Condemns Restrictions on Book Stalls at Lasbela University

Shal:The central spokesperson of the Baloch Students Front issued a strong condemnation regarding the actions of the incompetent administration of Lasbela University, which, according to the statement, is continuing its policy of keeping Baloch students away from education by using force to block book stalls. The spokesperson expressed severe disapproval of the incident, reaffirming their commitment to raising their voice against this anti-education policy on every possible platform.

The spokesperson further stated that since the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor, Malik Tareen, Baloch students have been harassed on a daily basis using various tactics, which has caused mental distress among students and negatively impacted their academic progress. Such actions, the spokesperson emphasized, are unacceptable.

The statement also mentioned that, like every year, a food gala was organized today at Lasbela University where students were setting up book stalls. However, the Vice Chancellor, Malik Tareen, who is allegedly fearful of knowledge and awareness, continued his anti-education policies. He deployed a heavy police force to assault students at the book stalls, physically intimidating them. Despite these oppressive actions, the Baloch students resisted and managed to maintain the book stalls.

The central spokesperson further noted that this is not the first incident where books have been banned in educational institutions of Balochistan. This policy has been ongoing since 2012 and 2013. During the tenure of Balochistan’s puppet Chief Minister Dr. Malik, a crackdown on books began, with restrictions placed on publishing Baloch books and several bookstores sealed. Similarly, last year, similar restrictions were imposed on books at Turbat University.

In conclusion, the spokesperson stated that the state is mistaken if it believes banning books will push Baloch youth away from them. On the contrary, Baloch youth will continue their efforts to foster a deeper connection with books to nourish their knowledge and awareness, which is their constitutional and legal right. The spokesperson warned that if the university administration attempts to prevent Baloch students from engaging in their educational process by employing underhanded tactics, they will raise their voices at every forum. They also pledged to not only place books on roads and intersections but to spread the culture of knowledge across every town, village, and area of Balochistan.
