India:Bajaj Auto, a prominent Indian company, has recently launched the world’s first CNG motorcycle, the Bajaj Freedom 125. The company claims that the operating cost of this motorcycle is nearly 50% lower compared to petrol models.
The Bajaj Freedom 125 is equipped with dual fuel capability, accommodating both CNG and petrol in separate tanks, providing a range of 334 kilometers on a full tank of both fuels. It features a 125cc engine coupled with a 5-speed gearbox, boasting a mileage of 102 kilometers in CNG mode and 165 kilometers in petrol mode, providing a combined range of 334 kilometers.
The motorcycle starts in CNG mode, switching automatically to petrol mode when CNG is depleted, ensuring continuous operation without refueling interruptions.
In addition to its innovative dual-fuel technology, the bike is packaged with modern features including a robust tubular frame and a connected mono-shock. The company has also introduced LED headlights, currently one of the most popular features in motorcycles.
The Bajaj Freedom 125 is available in various variants, each offering different specifications, with prices starting from approximately 95,000 Indian Rupees.
The Indian Minister of Transport highlighted that while the average cost of petrol for motorcycles in India is 2.25 Rupees per kilometer, the Bajaj CNG motorcycle reduces this cost to 1 Rupee per kilometer, emphasizing its potential for significant fuel savings and environmental benefits.
The company aims to introduce the CNG motorcycle not only to save on fuel costs but also to contribute towards reducing environmental pollution.
